Gabes in a Nutshell
Located in southeastern Tunisia, the Governorate of Gabes extends over an area of 7,166 km2. It is bordered to the east by the Mediterranean (a coast of 80 km) to the west by the Governorate of Kébili, to the north-east by the Governorate of Sfax, to the Northwest by the Governorate of Gafsa and to the south by the Governorate of Medenine.
The region constitutes the center of chemical processing of the country´s phosphate with the production of phosphoric acid and triple superphosphate.
