Tunisia has reaffirmed its appeal to the aerospace and advanced materials sectors with the establishment of AKSA Composites, a subsidiary of the Turkish group Akkök. On 24 September 2026, the company officially announced the signing of its industrial lease at the Borj Cédria Technopole, representing an initial investment of approximately $5 million. This establishment marks AKSA Composites’ first presence on the African continent.

Specialising in advanced composite materials and their industrial applications, particularly in the aerospace sector, AKSA Composites plans to set up a manufacturing operation in Tunisia to produce components for international aerospace supply chains. The facility is scheduled to commence operations by 2028.

This project illustrates the dynamic cooperation between Tunisian institutional and professional stakeholders. The discussions that have taken place since the Hamburg Aviation Forum 2025 – with the involvement, in particular, of GITAS and FIPA-Tunisia – have helped to bring the investor closer to the Tunisian industrial ecosystem and to support the various stages of its establishment.

Through this project, Tunisia is strengthening its position in high value-added industries, whilst promoting skills development, technology transfer and the integration of new international players into its aerospace ecosystem.
