Covering an area of 3,740 km², the governorate of Beja stands out for its rich agricultural resources, placing it among the main producers in strategic sectors. Its population of 303,032 inhabitants benefits from moderate demographic growth of 0.05%, and the region maintains a balance between urbanisation and the preservation of diverse landscapes, notably jebels, hills, valleys and forests.
The Fifth Bridge of Beja, a notable feature of the region, contributes to its historical charm. At the same time, the industrial sector of Beja reflects significant diversification, covering sectors such as the agri-food, ceramic and glass construction materials, mechanical and metallurgical, electrical, electronic and household appliances, chemical, textile and clothing industries. , as well as wood, cork, furniture, leather and shoes.

In terms of transportation, the region has an extensive network, including 86 km of highways, 224.9 km of national roads, 368.02 km of regional roads, 339.86 km of local roads, and a railway network serving Tunis, Jendouba, Ghardimaou, and Mateur.
On the industrial level, Beja has eight AFI (Agence Foncière Industrielle) developed zones. These zones demonstrate the economic dynamism and industrial attractiveness of the region.

● Education holds a central place in Beja, with 152 primary schools, 102 nurseries, kindergartens, and children’s clubs, as well as 48 secondary schools. Higher education is also represented by four institutions, helping in contributing to the diversity of the educational system.
● Beja has two regional hospitals, 88 basic health centres, two clinics, four analysis and radiology laboratories, as well as 36 pharmacies. This solid medical infrastructure guarantees accessible and good care for residents.
● In the tourism and leisure sector, Beja offers a diversified offer with five hotels. Local crafts, featuring specialties such as carpets, Jebba, and Burnous, enrich the cultural experience of the region.
● Vocational training plays a key role in the development of Beja, with the presence of 12 specialised centres. This contributes to the diversification of skills and the creation of employment opportunities. Established in 1972, APII is a public institution under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines. It is responsible for implementing government policy relating to the promotion of the industrial sector and innovation. The APII is the main point of contact for investors regarding the legal constitution of companies and the management of financial and fiscal benefits.

APIA is a public institution established in 1983, with the principal mission of promoting private investment in agriculture, fishing and associated services.

● Granting financial and fiscal benefits established by the Investment Law No. 2016-71 to promoters of agricultural, fishing, and related services projects, as well as projects involving the primary processing of agricultural and fishing products.

Agence Foncière Industrielle – AFI
The Industrial property Agency is a public organisation established in 1973 to strengthen the industrial network and contribute to the economic and social development of Tunisia.
